With groaning CD shelves I'm moving over more and more to downloads, after initial reticence. I followed Jayne's recommendation elsewhere and got the Chiaroscuro Death and the Maiden from eClassical. So glad I did. It's a beautifully played, at times harrowing, visceral performance. I've listened to the work countless times over the decades but heard lots of new things here. Cheaper than the CD and the 16 bit Flac version sounds great.
What download have you bought?

When I buy downloads I burn to CD which adds to the storage but at least I don’t risk losing them by the death of a hard drive or laptop, both of which I have experienced! I know I need to have a cd cull to ship out duplicates and store more cds minus the jewel cases.

As backup my mp3s and flacs are also on an external hard drive. Some are downloads, some taken from CDs. They come to about 40 gb - just rightclicked = 7,223 Files, 552 Folders! - and easily fit on a 64 gb usb drive, which is tiny and stays permanently and unobtrusively plugged into the front of the tuner, giving another way of accessing them ... and is also a second backup.
