What download have you bought?

I just played the 24/192 download of the NYPO/Gilbert Nielsen 2nd and ....whoa... those New York brasses vintage 2011? Heavens....my Goodness....! Really quite the phenomenon. Wowser !

I didn't take to it so much, a few years ago, on acquisition.... it's a grower...(as recordings should hopefully be).
Love the very natural, concert-hall perspectives on this Da Capo set, the climaxes truly open out, gloriously so in the malincolico... quite something. I don't really have faves in this rep, would probably place Oramo or Blomstedt DRSO ahead of this very heroic one (more idiomatic, humorous, quicksilver etc) but... what a wonderful hi-res Nielsen thing to sit in front of....

WHY is this music not played all the time? If you care about mid 20th Century music you MUST hear this. A distinctive voice but with happy echoes of RVW, Walton, Debussy, Sibelius.

BTW the Järvi 4th is a dud, so you need Volmer as a supplement for that!

Rossini: Overtures

Orchestra del Teatro Communale di Bologna/Michele Mariotti (Pentatone DSD download from HD Tracks)

I can never tire of Rossini's overtures (LSO/Pierino Gamba is a disc I would take to a desert island) and this new disc, which was awarded a Diapason d'Or, is, well, terrific. Stylish playing, excellent recording up to Pentatone's usual high standards, well-filled (9 overtures), what's not to like?

Only joking. But I'm a novice here. How do you lot get on with downloading the booklet etc.? I'm not always quite sure if I've got it, and where on my computer it is.

In the case of this download from HD Tracks (using the HD Tracks Downloader application), it creates a folder (in my case on my MacBook) into which the music files plus the cover art plus the booklet (as a PDF) are downloaded. I've recently committed my Desktop to the bloody iCloud (don't even go there) so I can't actually find the damned folder. In theory, it's easy - and HDT, as well as the other usual suspects like eclassical.com and Qobuz, do provide you with the booklet as a PDF. By the way, it is a really delightful disc.
