Today's e-classical advent calendar offerings include two really good CDs as hi-res downloads at reasonable prices:
Making its harmonia mundi début, New York-based Ensemble Signal performs Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians (1974-76), a seminal masterpiece by a pioneering composer who
and
Julian Bliss performs the Clarinet Concertos of Mozart and Nielsen—often thought of as the two greatest such works in the repertoire, twin examples of what can be achieved
The Mozart was the BaL choice earlier this year - and the Steve Reich is a great performance

Gorgeous, if acoustically idiosyncratic (AMUZ Musikcentrum Antwerp https://www.amuz.be/en/programme/) (https://www.amuz.be/en/a-historic-ch...-concert-hall/) performances...very different from the immediacy and drive of Dausgaard, this is set back, very spacious, very relaxed but poetic and expressive too, with plenty of springiness and bounce to the quicker movements..a modern orchestra of about 50 players but with HIPPs-sounding, vibrato-lite, phrase and texture... a fairly "big" sound nonetheless.
The 24/96 download (Qobuz) bubbles with inner detail. A peach.

Far, far too much Chandos material from Qobuz
There are discounts of c. 25% and some of the boxed sets are very well priced.
I've binged on British symphonies (Alwyn, Arnold, Rubbra, Tippett) each for around £10 (only available in 16 bit). Also some piano sonatas (Prokofiev with B Berman and Beethoven with Lortie)
There was also some very recommendable stuff that I already had at good prices (Handley's Bax, Hickox's RVW 2 - original version)
Not had much chance to try stuff yet but I'm half listening to the Arnold at work and enjoying it.

I ordered High Rez downloads of Bernstein and the NY Phil in Mendelsohn Scottish, Italian Symphonies and Hebrides Overture, along with Schubert Unfinished, from Presto. Not exactly a bargain but these were the Mendelsohn recordings that I grew up with and the alternative was buying the big Bernstein box that was just released for about 4 times the price. The Schubert is a little quick for my taste in I but it's great to hear the double basses really digging in
