It was expensive (bought from Presto a couple of years ago), but the big box of Chamber Music recordings from the Westminster catalogue issued in South Korea continues to be a marvellous source of memorable performances - details of all the discs here:

That gets played more than most of the other big sets I have - ever since acquiring it I've been glad I splashed out the considerable asking price (alas, it's now a lot more expensive, at least on amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Westminster-.../dp/B0095PAGGY). Other current favourites: the DG Jochum complete recordings Vol. 1 (for which I wrote the notes - an incredible pleasure), the Decca "Mono Years" box, the Decca complete Britten (65 CDs) and its nice 27-disc companinon (Britten the Performer).

I really wish I'd bought the Decca Vienna Philharmonic box.
