Should I get another Dream of Gerontius?!?!? ie the Boult DVD? :)

Santa was as good as his word, and this gift duly appeared and has now been watched. Great performance - and Janet Baker above all is in heart-stopping form, absolutely overwhelming
I would have liked to see more of Boult, though - and less of the 'experimental' close ups of arches and gargoyles during the choral passages (during the 'demons' chorus' bit, the gargoyles are zoomed in on in time with the music... could have done without that sort of 'special effect; but hey-ho it was the 60s...)Last edited by Nick Armstrong; 05-01-17, 17:33."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

With birthday no. 54 looming, I wondered if I should ask my beloved for this DVD as a present to commemorate my entry into the world. Problem is, I rarely watch music DVDs despite having some nice stuff.
Yes, Cali, I too hate those 'arty' shots of whatever happens to be around at the time. I'd much rather see Rodney Friend's violin playing or the dishy girls in the second fiddles.
