I hope it will be the Shostakovich but from what I have read in Gramophone and my perception of its critics views I think that Barenboim/ Elgar will win. I have not heard this recording but in his earlier Elgar series Danny pulls the music around too much for my taste. Of recordings I have heard of both completed Elgar symphonies, my favourites are Boult, Handley and Haitink in that order.

I suspect that this will challenge the Pappano Aida strongly for Record of the Year!

Shostakovich won! The Gramophone website lists all the category winners!

Paul, do you think this will challenge Pappano's Aida for Record of the year?

I think that Tony Pappano's Aida must be favourite, but this and Rachel Podger and friends playing Biber may challenge closely!
