    Suk Fantastic Scherzo Op25

Will someone please tell me why I know this work?

I recall driving to work listening to Breakfast a year or more ago and recognising a familiar orchestral piece that I couldn't name. Nothing new there then, but when Rob Cowan(?) told us what he'd just played, the title meant nothing to me whatsoever. A check with the River People revealed about one current recording, so it didn't look any sort of popular classic.

I've just bought the new Naxos/Falletta CD and tried it on LaMartinePecheur. She recognises it too.

We deduce therefore that it's had exposure as a theme tune: can anyone tell us where??
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

i know exactly what you mean but have no idea what this was used for my intuition is a radio programme since they have all disappeared from memory!
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

Thanks for the link CDJ. The bit that really sticks in my memory is the waltz-y theme for strings about a minute in.

You may be confusing this piece with the similar Saint-Saens Dance Macabre, which was used as the theme tune for Jonathan Creek on TV.

Hmm. Can't get that link to work. Youtube said I needed to upgrade to Flash Player 10, which I did, and restarted computer, but I just get the same message again?

When I first heard this piece on the Mackerras recording of a few year's back I thought the same thing but I came to the conclusion it was just such a great tune that I thought I must have heard it before !
