    Video subscriptions

i missed out on the free voucher offer for the BPO - I guess by the time I put the code in it had expired.
i wasn't really too bothered, as I'm not so interested in the standard core repertoire (also directed by just a few conductors with a large, though very good, orchestra) - which is not the same as saying I don't like it or enjoy it on occasions.

A new iPad with the latest software has me exploring some video sites, such as the NY Met - which looks good on the Met app, but presumably costs somewhat for each opera watched. I've not got quite as far as mirroring the iPad screen on an HDTV, though I believe it's possible.

Medici TV seems to have a lot of material - some in good quality video, though some doesn't look in such great quality. Currently there is a 40% reduction offer from Medici, and I wonder if it could indeed be worthwhile anyway.

Are sites such as The Met and Medici streaming only? That's fine for those with unlimited download budgets, but could cause problems for others. Also streaming might not work so well for frequent travellers/mobile users on planes and trains. Are there offline modes which would enable a subscriber to download, even for temporary use, whole performances for watching on long journeys?

Are there any sites/apps which do theatrical productions (e.g NT) as well as music events? Someone I know might like that, if possible.

Do costs rise significantly if a lot of video is consumed? Perhaps not to the extent of some of the Live (or Encore) in Cinema events, which we have sometimes enjoyed in the last few years.

Anyway - do notice the current 40% Medici deal if at all interested.
