Have you ever bumped into LeMartinPecheur (see #928) during your prowls round Cornish charity shops?

Not knowingly, but he’s up east and I’m down west, though we have PMd in the past!

Not a charity shop in fact but cheapo Melbourne fleamarket: four DG opera sets - Abbado's Simon Boccanegra, Macbeth and Falstaff, plus Mehta's Fanciulla de West, for Aus$5 apiece. So about UKP11 in total, I was pretty happy!

Does Ebay count? A 1996 Hyperion recording of York Bowen piano music played by Stephen Hough. £3.99 including postage. Quite simply very good indeed. The mystery of what happened to the York Bowen Society of which Hough is or was patron remains unsolved. There’s a 1997 review of the CD by Deryk Barber on the Classical Net website. I would paste a link but I’m not sure how secure the CN site is.

There’s an identical CD on Ebay at £3 with a day to go, and looking at the seller’s other items, there are several CD’s that might interest Esteemed Fellow Forumites. All at £3. Are you allowed to make recommendations like that here? Don’t know
And the tune ends too soon for us all

... indeed so. I hope you enjoy the Brahms piano four hands : a wonderful series - I think there are eighteen vols altogether...

Camborne today - 50p or 3 for £1 - works out at 12.5p per disc - a double CD of John Williams, a 3CD ‘Old Fashioned Lovesongs 50s/early 60s compilation, and the 3CDset - Sleeping Beauty - ROHO Ermler - maybe not the Critic’s choice but worth a go at 37.5p.
