Are there any other signs of problems with the disc, such as scratches? It might be possible to "rescue" the disc by ripping it with suitable software (e.g. EAC), perhaps after applying some form of surface cleaning or other treatment to the disc.

OTOH, perhaps life is too short, and you may have had 99p's worth of pleasure already. Were the music and performance of interest to you?

This morning I found a BBC MM CD of Brahms's Piano Quintet and Dvorak's Piano Quartet in E flat. I've already listened to the latter - a vivid recording made in Palo Alto of a sensitive, committed performance. Not bad for 20p.

My view on that is that the longest work takes preference so probably B shades it there!

... B also might take precedence alphabetically - chronologically - and it term of musical 'greatness'

                .
I keep my BBC MM CDs in chronological (issue) order, and use the listing LMcD now knows about from the BaL Dvorak Piano trio thread.
Otherwise it's alphabetical by first-named composer on the spine.

She's on YouTube with some pretty recent stuff, though her career seems to be mainly on the far side of the pond - Canada more than USA possibly. Wiki says "In 2019, Harnoy released her latest album, "Back to Bach" on the Canadian Classical label, Analekta."

I did feel when she was prominent in Gramophone years ago that her marketing by RCA was far too glamour-based. It seemed so excessive as actually to detract from her claim to be treated as a good musician. But if so, she's not the only female musician to suffer this way. IMHO of course.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

If I have lots of works by a particular composer, I start off with works for one performer then work my way up to the large-scale works such as symphonies and choral works.

CDs in some sort of order ?
Much more fun when you have 1000s of them stored randomly all over the house, some not even in the correct box or jewel case

Sadly me too, sometimes. A bit annoying if one or two CDs from big box sets go walk about. Periodically I try to get things back into the right cases, boxes or sleeves, but not always successfully. I keep hoping that the odd truants will turn up, but that doesn’t always happen.

I can see the logic in that, but I use Penguin Guide order as a general rule, though some composers are a nightmare!

                            Operas are shelved separately.

5 CDs from the Naxos "American Classics" series, with music by William Schuman, George Templeton Strong, Morton Gould and Ned Rorem, plus a Delta Music CD of popular Ameican Classics. At 20p each, I succumbed. Also, another 20p went on the Naxos CD of Falla's La vida breve.
