Just a mention for anyone within easy reach of Bracknell. The mobility 'scooter'/charity shop next to W H Smith has recently had a large number of BBC Music Magazine cover discs donated. These are up for sale at 25p each and include some going back to the earliest issues.. They also have a wide selection of DVDs (I already grabbed the very few operas among them) for 50p each.

I understand how the market economy works, they may as well charge what the market will bear.
They do quite well on it - donated goods, added to by the "are you a taxpayer" gift aid enhancement on their sale price, and use volunteer labour, with the exception of the manager (and upper level marketing and admin, no doubt) to do it. Do they pay the full whack business rates I wonder?

My local Launceston Oxfam seems to get the occasional crate-load of CDs and DVDs unsold in other branches which they sell off very cheaply (50p ea). Sometimes there's some good obscure classical stuff which I benefit from, presumably because much of Cornwall is pretty low in the socio-economic groupings. So not very much good stuff but a corresponding lack of buyers when it does come in
(Except of course for cloughie)I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Like you I don't wait if there's something specific I'm after, but I do sometimes find things I'd forgotten about or never knew existed.

50 individual CDs today, mostly BBCMM coverdiscs. £10 for the lot. Many duplicates, including Mahler 6 (Mackerras) and 10 (Wigglesworth), which will go to the culturally needy. Also included was the very early cover disc of the movements competed by the composer of Bruckner's 9th (Klee). This latter in the hope that it does not have the drop-out that was found in both previous copies I already have.

I'd be interested to know about the 'drop out' problem: I have that CD, and yes - the 'drop out' is there, so I would hazard a guess that it's on all the 'pressings'

This one appears to have escaped it, somehow. I will back it up for security. I have such a backlog of listening, plus the need to prepare a soundscape for a forthcoming performance, that I'm not sure how soon I will have the time to check out the Bruckner 9. I will, however, try and remember to report back when I do.

Has there been acknowledgement of the problem?
PS: These are the track timings (just looked in my iTunes). I was wondering where the drop out was. At first reading I thought these were the times at which a drop out occurred!
