It got a Rosette when it was first released but 'lost' the Rosette in subsequent editions. See my separate thread on 'losing' a PG Rosette.

Lunch in Nottingham yielded the following haul:
Verdi - Un Ballo in Maschera - Domingto/Barstow/VPO/Karajan
Rossini - Il Barbiere Di Siviglia - Allen/Baltsa/ASMF/Marriner
Puccini - Turandot - Domingo/Ricciarelli/VPO/Karajan
All new and still in shrink-wrap: the Barbiere even had its original price sticker (£43.99) from Virgin on the cover.
£8.00 for the lot. :)

Not quite a charity shop ....
The local dump has now opened a shop on site. While dropping off a load of junk today I thought I'd take a few items over (plastic magazine holders) to see if there'd be any interest. At least they were taken politely - even if they will end up back in one of the very large bins.
I spotted some CDs on the way out - definitely not trash. Priced at one for 50p, three for £1, so I rescued:
Dvorak: String Quartets, Pavel Haas Quartet, Supraphon
Elgar: Piano Quintet, String Quartet, Piers Lane and the Goldner SQ, Hyperion
Schumann: - Three String Quartets, Doric Quartet, Chandos.
The guy I spoke to said that sometimes they get hundreds or even thousands passing through.

I came across something of an oddity this morning while sorting through the DVDs in the charity shop where I help out - a 1939 colour production of the Mikado starring Kenny Baker ('American radio star'), Jean Colin, Sydney Granville and Martyn Green, with the LS0 conducted by Geoffrey Toye. The run time is 87 minutes, so there are obviously some cuts. I thought it was worth £1.50, although it's very unlikely to displace Jonathan Miller's wonderful Twenties-inspired version in my affections.
