They work very well on my MP3 player on train journeys, for some reason.

Because LMcD got to the charity shop ahead of you! ...or you don't have any in your collection. You probably have Alison but if not the Martinon No " is a must have and is on the Essential Borodin Double Decca or World of Borodin, also Decca!

But not that easy to get hold of! A Sony box of Tjeknavorian's (RCA) recordings is well overdue!

They've never been beaten - and rarely (if ever) equalled. : smiley:

I mean a big box including Tchaikovsky, Sibelius and many others, and the complete Borodin orchestral canon not just the Syms. Tjeknavorian was many critcs favourite in the early 70s!

That has probably got to be the best bargain - maybe almost ever? - in this thread. An under-rated Mahler cycle, beautifully recorded in the Alte Oper Frankfurt, which will bring you hours of pleasure. The phrase, "Jammy B****r" comes to mind, not that I resent you your skill at ferreting out bargains () ......

I only have the 6th from that cycle and it's the one with the best last movement hammerblows on disc. Not played it for many years though.
