So have I - in fact this prompted me to sift through my collection, and the really standout Jandos for me are: The Liszt Annees, which is as good as any (including Berman); Schumann Quintet with the Kodalys; most of his Beethoven sonata cycle, but particularly the early works; Mozart concertos 17/18 (superb); Bartok Dance Suite; the whole of his Haydn Sonata cycle, up there with the best. Pretty good going for a 'hack' I'd say !

      That's a bargain!
My fav. Bartok piano concerto set, by a mile.
      My others are Ashkenazy/Solti Anda/Fricsay Kovacevich/C Davis

Jando is the Andrew Litton of pianists: consistently underrated and often inspired. Broad repertoire too.

I played the Bartok disc last night before going to bed. For the first time, these works made sense to me, so I consider it 50p well spent!

                Hiya cloughie,

I've really no idea of his thought process. I'm just passing on what I considered to be an interesting viewpoint. And as I expected it has prompted some interest.

His Complete Beethoven Sonatas are on my computer, well worth having, especially at a mere £7.59 to download

                              well quite.

although I think you'll find the current term is " Intellectual Phase Locking", not fudging.

Rupert ( Sheldrake)spoke with a scientist responsible for these efforts and concluded that the averages ( for force of gravity)are “just being fudged together”. The scientist discarded the term, “fudge” and rephrased it as “intellectual phase locking”.
