Adolf Busch & Busch Quartet;Complete Warner Recordings

Relishing this 16 CD remastered boxset and delighted to see that the liner notes have been written by Tully Potter, his bulky two Vols set is also on the shelves for further reference. Difficult to know where to start among such an embarrassment of riches but its equally important to know when to stop - no, not for a planned 'interval ' - but to know when it is time to be silent or reflective by seeking a wider background on the music or performances. I started with the Brandenburg Concertos 1-6, and Beethoven Violin Sonatas, 3, 5 'Spring' and 7 and concluded with the exquisite Schubert Fantasy, rec 1931, before they started working in Studio 3, Abbey Road, Sept 1932, on their legendary Beethoven Late Quartets. I'm still pleased to have this set on LP but must save the experience of hearing the remastered recordings for their little pinpricks of sadness, joy and enlightenment during these dark, stormy winter nights.
