I was looking forward to this arriving and Gerhaher sings with his characteristic velvet baritone and utter respect for and understanding of the text . He is also sensitively and enjoyably accompanied by the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra . What baffles me is why it was thought a good idea to intersperse groups of arias with movements in reverse order of the Linz Symphony . Apparently , it is to represent a " pasticcio " but I find it as unconvincing as Harnoncourt's idea that Mozart's last three symphonies are one big symphony . I see no merit in trying to pretend you are cleverer than or can improve on Mozart's ordering of his own works .
