Indeed, and who the hell has heard of having a "soundtrack" for their life ? Ye Gods, it gets worse all the time.

Why does Allyson Devenish keep being asked back onto the programme? She is the worst reviewer I have ever heard in over 40 years of fairly regularly listening to Record Review/ CD Review, including the worst review I have ever heard, hers on Schubert's Winterreise. She seemed to miss most of the issues around the work and I feel that I could have done a better job, even though I have no formal musical training and no broadcasting experience!

Somebody has clearly decided that spurious excitement is what Radio 3 listeners need, or want. If that's not your thing, try yle Klassinen!

I suppose we should be thankful that Flora Wilson hasn't also been asked to join this programme to share one of her awful choices.
"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

Oh dear, not much love for what sounds like an interesting experiment.
