      It could have been the 2003 RFH performance (Lordgeous #11) as previewed here



      which we attended and enjoyed perhaps because new to the work rather than any felicity in the conducting.

            Picked up a copy of the original Pickwick release for £1 . The performance does strike me as very correct and careful but not overly inspiring though the LSO chorus come across as the stars of the show late on .

            The benefit of having a copy though is the interesting pair of booklets - 1 juxtaposing Mahler's original programme with the notes and 2 a collection of Mahler's letter concerning the symphony .
