Extraordinary how may people here continue to cite Hurwitz as some kind of musical higher authority. To me, he is the Nigel Farage of music critics. A nonentity for whom far too much airtime is given.

Would someone who knows more about Nielsen than I do like to watch the 85-year-old Stokowski conduct No. 2 for the first and only time in his life in Copenhagen and let us know what they think. I only ask because the Danish critics went overboard for his performance. However, when he'd conducted No. 6 in London two years earlier with the NPO, he admitted he didn't understand it. Curiously, criric Colin Anderson gave Stokowski's Nielsen 6th full marks, so you can never tell! ...
