    Vanished Britten & Richter

Good afternoon all - Hope you're all enjoying your sunny long weekend!

I recall a while ago stumbling on some colour footage (newsreel?) on Youtube of Richter and Britten at Snape playing (I think) a Mozart sonata for 2 keyboards (K448 perhaps) which was completely exhilarating. It dated from the late 1960s, I think.

I have searched online now for this clip and cannot see it anywhere. I am pretty sure it was Mozart and IIRC it wasn't a duet but a piece for two pianos. Does the video clip ring bells with anyone out there - and has anyone seen it on their travels?

    Thanks

I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure it is in 'A Time There Was'.

If film of Britten and Richter playing together at Aldeburgh exists, why can't we buy a DVD of their performances? What an important record!

...and why is there (still) only one 40+ year-old DVD of the War Requiem? There is another, recorded some years ago in Peenemunde, that can now be pre-ordered but isn't due for release until December 2012. Is it too much to hope for a new(er) recording for, or during, the centenary year?

It is in 'A time there was' I watched it a few weeks ago, I think the clip dates from about 1967, which I think was around the time that Richter performed at the Aldeburgh Festival and recorded the Piano Concerto.

Karafan - didn't Decca release a CD of this performance in 2000 ?

If you include the Jarman film, which used the Decca recording, there are at least 2, I guess:
