Enough of this soul-searching! Shostakovich: Symphonies - Kitajenko (Capriccio) 12 sacds for £17.41 delivered. This appears to be a flip top box not the earlier jewel cases so very little pressure on space. http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B001GZ011Q/
Thanks for pointing this out, which I have now ordered. I have the Kitaenko Prokofiev set, which is excellent, so I am looking forward to his Shostakovich.
It's a good job that I had that new shelving installed!

Reason: De-fumbling
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
Yes - I wondered if this was a cunning plan from Cali to help prevent us from buying more CDs?
Curses! Foiled again!
I had in fact just forwarded the link to this thread to the person (rubbernecker, formerly of this parish) who had drawn my attention to the article, and then fumbled my cut'n'paste here.
Thanks Bryn, and my post now corrected.

What to do with the Rozhdestvensky rendition of Vaughan Williams’s Sea Symphony, with Russian chorus and soloists mangling the text? No, I will not keep it.
