I can't see that anyone has noted this, but I've spotted that all Abbado's Lucerne Mahlers are about to be released (next week) on a boxed set of Blu-Rays. Presto have the set at something under 100 beer vouchers. I've been too mean hitherto to buy a Blu-Ray player, but this might help to sway me!

I already have Mahler 1-7 with Lucerne/Abbado but in DVD. Superb. If I remember correctly, there were some problems over the Bluray issues of some of them, the surround sound being artificially created from the stereo track, I believe. It would be best before buying to check this point if the surround sound is important for you. It may seem odd but the DVD surround sound is excellent : the sound recording systems are different. The stereo tracks for both media are fine.

Yes, thank you, AP. I too have the DVDs. Perhaps I'll stick with those (after all, they are all fabulous) and save my pennies

Too late for me to follow the same advice re. the Lucerne Mahler 9. I added it to the Young Mahlerians' DVD at the time of its UK release. However, I have instead used most of the saved outlay to order from MDT the new Mandelring boxed set of Shostakovich String Quartets and a couple of Australian Eloquence doubles (the Grainger, and Stravinsky Soldier's Tale etc.).
