Rachmaninov Pc 1 & 2 with Ogdon and Rhozhdestvensky/ LSO. So hard to find JO in good form in the later years though so these are hit and miss.
I am really really keen to find a recording of JO in Rach 3. There's a bootleg concert form Perth / BBCSSO kicking about but it's so compressed it's hard to make much of it.
The JO set of Rachmaninov solo music that made it's way into an EMI boxed set was originally recorded for Collins but never released. I'd have preferred it had stayed out of the public 'ear' because the playing is at best very uneven. I wonder who produced this stuff! Surely with the right coaxing they could have got much cleaner performances from him. AListair Hinton was a lot more successful. (The Bach_Busoni disk is nearly magisterial - even if a little fluffy at times, JO was in commanding form for most of it).

for me Collins is the label for Britten, Maxwell Davies, Birtwistle, Hugh Wood, Scharwenka (piano concertos), Holloway, and on the "single" CDs Mason and David Matthews e.g.

The London performance was particularly memorable to me - not only the Birtwistle "premiere", but a superb Schönberg's Film Music and a lithe complete Pulcinella.

One Collins Classics that was a favourite of mine was this Strauss disc. Spectacular sound quality and great performances.
After an hour or so of faffing, and remembering/looking up my eBay and payment passwords (I don't use the sites very often ...) I managed to place an order for this.

I'm assuming that bronzing would be fairly obvious - the CD I received as I mentioned looked reasonably normal.
There still seem to be 4 discs available - so I'd definitely recommend it - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lso-Lso-Ja...item58b279dc2d
If anyone gets stuck with a copy they can't play or rip, then I might be able to help out.
Are there any other really good Collins recommendations?

Perhaps some of those turned up in one of Brilliant's box sets - though not in the current sets I think.
