Haydn last six Masses

Is there a set on CD of these six Masses that people would recommend? I have the six on LP with Willcocks, which are wonderful. The CD issue of these seems now to be a larger set with all the Masses. This is a possibility, but I wonder if anyone has other recommendations?

Bruno Weil did a great cycle of all the Haydn masses with Tafelmusik, and used boys' voices, which to me win the contest.

Excellent soloists, too, who don't "interpret" the Music in such a way that draws attention to their "tremendous artistry"; instead, everything is focussed on presenting this glorious Music.

Are they all with Willcocks? I thought some of the EMI ones were with St Johns and George Guest.

I agree with all the suggestions so far, and have collected most of them. I also have Bernstein on an MP3 collection - that may actually be the least successful of the ones I have, but it's still interesting. The Bruno Weil set is very good.

Pinnock is also good I think. Really I can't think of any that are really completely out of the running. Others must surely include Simon Preston (with Christopher Hogwood on organ) and JEG. Harnoncourt is perhaps one I can do without, though I like a lot of his other work.

Much gnashing of teeth here - I spent a lot of time and money tracking down those deleted Weil discs, and now here they are available for 4 euros!!! (Bur presumably none of the original booklet notes, Vints?)

I would also agree with Dave about the few masses that Hogwood and Preston recorded - I think they must rank amongst my favourite discs ever from the Academy of Ancient Music. And now also available in a cheapish 2 CD set from Decca. Well worth acquiring.
