Well, for me, it's Igor Oistrakh's recording of the Tchaikovsky violin concerto with the USSR Symphony Philharmonic orchestra conducted by his father, David. On of the first records I ever heard and, IMHO, the best recording of this piece. Goodness knows, I've tried to trace it over the years but no joy.

Followed by Sir Adrian Boult's recording of Elgar 2 with the SNO. AFAIK, It's never made it to cd.

I've been patiently waiting for this to be reissued. It's been out of the catalogue for years now. Why won't EMI release it? Still no sign.

Anyone else got any recordings that they want to see released, but there's no sight on the horizon?

Although I have them in other formats two Shostakovich discs mysteriously have never seen the light of day on CD: the 15th Symphony in the 1972 world premiere recording with Maxim Shostakovich and Yevgeny Svetlanov's 1966 recording of the 10th Symphony.

To lower the tone somewhat I used to love an MFP disc of the Band of the Scots Guards and Lt Col Sam Rhodes playing band arrangements by Dan Godfrey of the Desert Song, Student Prince, Showboat and Rose Marie. Would move heaven and earth to have this on CD!
