Envious congratulations on getting to a such gig!

Must buy? At £32!? I had 'Lick' on vinyl in the mid 70s, and I have 'Spotlight' and 'Clear Spot' coupled on a single CD (widely available for about £5.00 or £7.00 from Amazon). It feels like a rip off.

Why can't 'Lick' be released at a sensible price? Am I missing something?

Good news in this Rameau birthday year - I hear there is to be a new complete recording of "Zais" from Christophe Rousset. This will be welcome news to the deprived Ramellians who have long been unable to get their hands on the old, long-deleted Leonhardt set.

        - "welcome", indeed. And almost certain to guarantee that the Leonhardt set will be reissued at around the same time

... o, splendid news, Micky - many thanks. Cheered me up no end.

And if ferney's prediction proves true - all the better!

I'm not sure about a reissue of the Leonhardt - it was on the STIL label (does it still exist? no pun intended) and they were notorious for keeping copyright etc things to themselves. I would suspect that the Rousset's version will be technically much better all these years on, but I have great affection for the old Leonhardt recording...I'll never forget hearing that amazing overture for the first time.

Anyway, happy to spread some good news.

Not actually on Naxos but Grand Piano, a full price label which, like BIS, is distributed by Naxos in the UK.

I have had a quick look at one of their earlier (single disc) releases in amazon.co.uk, and though the Amazon price is £14.53, it is also available (New) via their marketplace for just over half that (plus £1.26 p&p). One can but hope ...

[I see that amazon.co.uk are asking £34.99 for the 4 disc Weinberg box.]

Very much looking forward to this:

I know little Moeran but hold Darrah Morgan and Mary Dullea in high regard. Eager to hear how Tim Gill, the new Fidelio Trio cellist, fits in with them.

An eclectic of his generation - like Bax of the Anglo-Celt school, but stylistically more a blend of Ireland, Vaughan Williams and Sibelius; a friend of Warlock, and one of those who regularly attended those weekend booze-ups at the latter's cottage in Kent. Some find his music "slight" but it was always well put together. I have to admit to not knowing two of the works on this particular menu, but the sonata, a late work, is particularly fine.
