Charity shop classical bonanza in W1

A heads-up for those in London or visiting in the next few weeks...

I just took two large boxes of my surplus CDs to this charity shop in aid of the blind:

    Geranium Shop
4 George Street (by Marylebone High St)
    London
    W1U 3QU
    Tel: 020 7935 1790

I've taken the opportunity of recent decorations to weed out lots of duplications, unwanted opera boxes especially....

    ... including

    Mackerras 'Cunning Little Vixen'
    Karajan 'Falstaff' (GROC)
Lots of McGegan / HM Handel operas
Quite a few JEG choral discs (that 'authentic' Monteverdi 'Vespers' for instance)
    Colin Davis 'Cosi fan Tutte'
    etc
    etc

A few dozen others - in fact I guess there must be 200 or so in total.

I guess they'll be putting them out over the next few weeks.

Just in case anyone wants to have a browse.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I am filled with admiration. When I try to weed out unwanted CDs, I usually find I've identified about two. Something to do with being brought up in the 50s and being taught never to throw anything away?

Burning them to a HD makes it easier to part with actual CD, although I still shed the occasional tear when one leaves the nest.

Hmmm - I wonder if it's worth £100 for the round trip to get some bargains? Perhaps you could ask them to hold on to the Handel operas until September, when I'm due to make my next trip south?

                  Hi Richard,
Mine are all on HD but I do believe that I need to keep the CDs as proof that I bought them - not sure who would check though or how. Conscience as a result of having parents from the 1920s?

Looks like it was a pity the board swop shop never got off the ground!
