I hope to get Steven Osborne’s late Piano Sonatas on Hyperion. Also in the Haitink Portrait is set from BR Klassic, is stupendous performance of Missa Solemnis.

Yevgeny Sudbin's new disc of sonatas Opp 110, 111 and Bagatelles Op 126 on Bis is a distinctive account of much recorded works and a rewarding listen. Interesting liner notes by the pianist.

Recently acquired, I've been listening to Solomon playing Beethoven sonatas in the early 50s.

Generally much enjoyed. Slightly mixed feelings about his smudginess in very rapid passages. And occasionally internal voices/balance not brought out in modulating passages.

        Heresy?

A boxed set of the Symphonies, with Wyn Morris conducting the LSO.

Live from Wigmore Hall in London, Sara Mohr-Pietsch introduces two late, great, Beethoven sonatas performed by Swiss pianist Andreas Haefliger.

I was very taken by his performances and have now ordered some of his CDs.

Mrs. PG and I were driving to Glasgow last Monday lunchtime and caught bits of those performances. Very impressive from what I heard whilst negotiating the M8!

Was taken with the extracts from Imogen Cooper’s recording of the Diabelli variations yesterday on Record Review.

I heard her play these almost a year ago and she was little short of magnificent. A very fine artist indeed.

Could be my next Beethoven recording!

                    Thanks for reviving this thread.

Which of their recordings, RCA (now Sony) or Philips/Decca/Brilliant Classics?

Picked up Herbie's 1980s Symphonies box for stupid money on market place (less than £3 including postage)

Listened to the 1st this morning. Perhaps a little old fashioned in the minuet but overall a likeable big band performance

Update: The 1980s Eroica is absolutely stunning. Worth the (very modest) cost of the set on its own
