Favourite record label past or present

We did this one several years ago. Let's go again.

We have been known to repeat topics after all

Chandos orchestral recordings always sound better than any others on my system!

Some great performances and works too...

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Difficult to choose between Mode, Atopos and Matchless. Overall, Mode, I think.

          KAIROS.

          And Harmonia Mundi.

And many thanks to CfP for all the marvellous recordings of works that I wouldn't otherwise have been able to afford in the '70s.

In the past, Decca and Philips. I still look for their distinctive spines in charity shops!

At present, my favourite has to be the LPO label with new issues giving the same familiar tingle of excitement as those old Decca/Philips discs once did.

Decca, before they were swallowed up by Polygram, and even during the Polygram era. But then along came Universal and things began to go downhill.

col legno, aeon, Mode, MDG, Montaigne & Astrée, NEOS, HM

I feel like HM might have the best engineering crew of anyone today but it's hard to tell with the competition.

Winter & Winter seems pretty interesting, but I only have a couple of their CDs. Kairos for repertoire.

                            Do mergers count? CBS/Sony/RCA ? Warner/Erato/EMI/Virgin? Phillips/DG/Decca?
