Just bought this for myself as part of my own birthday celebrations. The only one I've had on LP is Aus Italien (a superb performance, by the way) and I never got the Testament issues that appeared on CD. Just as well I didn't because now, at an attractive price and with excellent notes by our own Makropolous of this parish it's a timely reissue and essential listening for Strauss fans. Also included is the 1950 Salome.

The sound is 1950s Decca mono but is good enough if hardly state of the art.

Just a quick update - for no apparent reason, the Great Richard Strauss Operas box has now gone up to nearly £50 direct from amazon, though market place sellers still have it for less - perhaps even less than before. Amazon do seem to go in for some quite rapid and hefty price changes from time to time.

Most Strauss fans would like a 6CD Lieder box with F-D and Moore which can be had for a snip. I have enjoyed the discs greatly.
