    Eccentric Amazon listings

Just received a heads-up email from Amazon entitled ""The Art of Daniel Barenboim..." by Plácido Domingo, and more

Now who here knew that our Placido was the power behind that particular throne...?

[ "Behind every great conductor there is an even greater tenor"?]

I ordered a CD by French soprano Michelle Command the other day.

At least I hope it is by her, as Amazon listed her as 'Missile Command'...

(I suppose it could have been worse - Missile Control, for example.)

A few years ago Amazon told me that, because I like Beethoven, I might be interested to learn that "he has a new album out"....

Hey, if most of Jimi Hendrix albums could be released after his death, why not LvB?

What about iTunes ? I burned Bruckner's 8th Symphony to my computer yesterday, and discovered that iTunes had listed all the information in French, which is an interesting way to treat a composer that never left German Speaking lands.

Maybe because he doesn't have parasitic relatives eager to cash in on his name.

Not so. He certainly gave six organ recitals at the recently opened Royal Albert Hall in London in 1871. I'm afraid I'm not altogether sure about the remainder of Anton's travels.

Well Albert was certainly a German speaker.

I'm always amazed at CDs priced in the hundreds of pounds whilst Zoverstocks are selling the same disc for 99p. (Or less!)
