Sorry about the 2007 reference Panjandrum - I looked at french frank's last post in closing the thread and 2007 is the year given. Obviously I now realise that it's a mistake.

My use of the word 'totty' about Ferret's list of attractive (to us as gay men) pianists was used ironically as men, violinists or otherwise, are very rarely referred to as 'totty', especially in print. However in conversation, straight women and gay men often refer to younger attractive men as 'totty'.

You may be suggesting that this is sexism, hence the reputational issue. 'Sexism' occurs when one gender refers to another as being inferior and has the power and opportunity to use that opinion to the detriment of the other gender. But I did not imply that the men on Ferret's list were otherwise than gifted and attractive. I would argue therefore that no sexism is implied in my post, but rather it is inferred erroneously by you.

My apologies. I thought you above all others, amateur, based on your previous proclamations, would have been mindful of possible misinterpretation by innocent visitors to these boards and the consequent "reputation" risk.
