Good to see your own impeccable PC principles don't stand in the way of a good bit of old fashioned, deeply offensive sexism Am51. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes, eh?

          Care to elaborate, Panjandrum?

And how do you know that I have a PC?

I cannot believe that R3 listeners refer to women by that most outdated word "totty" And are judging female fiddle players purely by their looks, not their ability!

Just doing what you, yourself, advised we all did on another thread Amateur, and protecting the reputation of these boards from bigoted idiots. After all it may look like we're letting these posts go unremarked because we agree with them. Thus it might be seen as a reputational issue for the board?

But .... the title of the thread is 'Top Ten Gorgeous FEMALE Fiddle Players' To avoid any sexism it should have omitted the word 'Female' shouldn't it? We don't want to upset The Monstrous Regiment of Women (i.e. Feminists) here, do we?

True... Naughty pastoralguy. Then again, he did spell the adjective "GEORGEOUS" - perhaps the eponymous George was a sign of the pansexual course this thread is now taking?

I'm at a loss to know what you are a-driving at, Panjandrum, so you'll have to excuse my being a dullard and elaborate further.

I see that the post to which you direct me is from March 2007!

My you hug these grievances close to your bosom, don't you?

A-ha! I see that I have not been clear.

In my use of the word 'totty', which I was using ironically, I meant the splendid band of male pianists that Ferret had mentioned in his post to me. There was nothing a) disparaging in tended nor b) any females persons in my view

I agree ! No doubt we have both been described as the thinking man's totty at some time or other -- I'm trying to remember!

                              Bws.

What I consider sexist is the implication that you have to be particularly good to play a gorgeous female fiddle - gorgeous male fiddles can be equally temperamental.
