I never had that problem with Arkivmusik but I had recently purchased a CD from Pristine that wouldn't play. I burned it to a hard drive and was then able to make my own CD-R that played without incident

Good idea to make a backup, but as they would both be CD-Rs, no inherent difference?

Maybe but the Arkiv CD-R does not play on my old Arcam CD72 - yet CD-R's made at home do .
