Top Ten Septets of all time

What are YOUR top ten Septets of all time? Works must have 7 instruments in them and be your own choice and your decision must not be influenced by other message boarders, unless their list happens to be better than yours.

    Here’s my list.

    1. Stravinsky. Septet
    2. Erm, that’s the only one I know!

Surely you know the Beethoven? There's also Saint-Saens's Op.65 for trumpet, string quartet, double-bass and piano, a very entertaining work.

There are also the two Hummel Septets and a delightful one by Berwald and Janacek's Mladi is for Wind Septet.

I may have misread the tone and intent of your message, but even if it is meant to be taken seriously, surely you should be asking for a top 7 Septets, to be followed by the inevitable requests for:
            Top 2 Duos
            Top 3 Trios
            Top 4 Quartets
            Top 5 Quintets
            Top 6 Sextets
            Top 8 Octets
            Top 9 Nonets
            Top 10 Decets (Decaets?).

Might have to cheat and wikapedia some of them. Surely Schnittke must have done one?

Ofca, I think your irony radar just had a momentary (and, let it be said, uncharacteristic) failure

Undectet (by analogy with undecenoic acid)?

                            Found a Decet work!

Tchaikovsky Russian Scherzo. For wind Decet.

(Okay. So I cheated. I googled it.)

There's also one (Op. 18) by somebody called Gustav Helset. Who knows? They might be a couple of really quite decent decets.
