    Janos Starker boxes

I've just noticed this box of 10 CDs from Mercury Living Presence - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...48704661_em_ti

Are not most of the CDs in the other Mercury boxes?

There's also an EMI Icon box - with 9 CDs and possibly it's cheaper. I don't have the track listing for that.

Here's the Icon box, out in July (9 CDs):

The complete track listing is typically Amazon-confusing, but you can click on the image of the back of the box for an easier synopsis.

Or there is the Korean 'Complete EMI Recordings' box (6 CDs):

If I'm right, the interesting thing about the Icon box is that Warner have now been able to draw on their Erato label, and include, for instance, the complete Beethoven cello sonatas, which are not in the Korean box. Otherwise, there is quite a bit of overlap between the Icon and the Korean. (The Bach solo suites in these boxes are as released in the UK on Columbia LPs, and are not the same as the Mercury recordings.)

That's not actually the track listing, but a list of the works. The track listing can be seen by clicking on 'Track Listings - See all items' further down the screen. (If you really want it!)

I have the 2 big Mercury boxes. I haven't grabbed the booklets to thwo large collections to do a direct comparison but I think about 90% of contents of the Mercury Starker box are contained in the bigger boxes, primarily in the First box.
It should be a welcome issue for Starker fans. Some of the Starker items were otherwise at present unavailable outside of the big box purchase.

The Warner classics box of his EMI recordings coming in the Icon series has apparently been delayed until October.
