Having listened again the other day to Campoli's superb recording of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with Ataulfo Argenta conducting the LSO I realised apart from being aware he died young I know little about the conductor . I bought a copy of his famous Espana record which does indeed live up to its reputation but was then led to listening on Amazon Prime to his recording of Falla's Nights in the Gardens of Spain with Gonzalo Soriano . It is marvellous both the soloist and accompaniment even more atmospheric than the live Argerich recording and certainly much more interestingly accompanied to my ears . I see Gramophone liked it a great deal originally .

Argenta's recording of Master Peter, which I had on an Ace of Diamonds LP, for some contractual reason did not make it into the Decca Argenta box set; a shame, as I'd like to hear it again (maybe it's been uploaded; I need to check!); if memory serves it had a truly young-sounding Peter.
