Ingrid Fliter - Chopin Piano Concertos disc of the week

I have more than enough recordings of these works . Looking at my shelves it looks like 9 of No 1 and 6 of No 2 . Five minutes of listening to her in the F Minor seems to make it pretty clear I am going to have to get another one . She is a pianist of extraordinary talent . Her Waltzes were in the Lipatti and Rubinstein class and this record seems to be heading the same way .

Ah yes, all the right *o**s but not necessarily in the right order.

Just the encouragement I need. I missed CD Review (sanding down shutters) so thanks, Barbs, for the heads-up on this recording. Cross-threadingly, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Giulini in London box. As well as 16 CDs of music (including one of my desert island discs, the Falla 'El Amor Brujo'), there is a Jon Tolansky tribute, made for Giulini's 90th birthday.

This F Minor is magical . It could even convert Caliban and Suffolkcoastal at this rate .

Nowt to do wi' I: I've been poring over it for 5 minutes looking for the typo. It seems to be the alert kb whom you must thank!
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The heading was typed Chpoin by mistake - thanks to however corrected it .

Judging by the auto rip the First Piano Concerto performance is as special as that of the second . Very sensitively accompanied too .

Unfortunately, the final bars of the F minor concerto are missing from the iPlayer's 'Listen Again' offering. A fault report has been sent.

I was reading the thread, attracted by Fliter's name, because I've heard her a few times on TTN, and been impressed. (Then was just flexing my moderation muscles - and nearly also changed her name to Filter .)

There's a recording, including her, of the Schumann Piano Quintet which I've heard at least three times on TTN and it hasn't palled: great energy and attack from the keyboard.

I think she's someone to watch (although I'm no great piano connoisseur).

Thanks then KB . She is indeed one to watch and listen too . A very considered and intelligent analysis of the Chopin concertos in this month's gramophone by her too .

I've been playing a disc of Gina Bachauer and Antal Dorati in these two pieces, from one of the large Mercury Living Presence boxes. I've enjoyed it quite a bit. I have to admit that while I have a few recordings of these pieces, I've been somewhat immune to there charms, until now, although I listen to a lot of Chopin.
I don't know where the Bachauer/Dorati disc fits in the greater tally of these oft recorded works but I am recommending it.

We were lucky enough to hear Ms. Fliter play Beethoven's fourth concerto recently with the RSNO. Gorgeous playing. Yes, a name to watch.

She plays Schumann well too, there was a gripping performance of the Symphonic
Studies complete with the posthumous ones broadcast 3 or 4 years ago. A pianist to look out for.

Has anyone else heard this ? Another rave review in IRR today but not so keen on the recording. I am beginning to think this is the finest recording of the Second Concerto I have ever heard .
