Make sure to hide something you could play on, too (I have a vague idea that there are more convenient options these days)
    - err ... I had actually forgotten about this!

There is one Handel LP (Philips, early 1970s) I'd take to a desert island: ECO/Leppard with the 3 Concerti a due Cori (first to be burned on a CD or otherwise digitised )

I was blown away by Handel's Dixit Dominus when I first heard it on a BBC CD

You beat me to it Roehre! The Tafelmusik/Lamon CD on Sony makes a very decent HIPP complement.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Yes I have that performance, in another CD manifestation (coupled with the Dettingen Te Deum) - it's terrific. http://www.classicsonline.com/catalo...px?pid=1208470

I think I got it having caught it by chance on a Throught the Night programme.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

My favourite and all very old fashioned is the EMI Pheonixa with Barbirolli and the Hallé playing the Organ Concerto, "Rodrigo" Suite, Oboe Concerto no 1 with Evelyn Rothwell and the Suite from Xerses which includes Richard Lewis singing "Ombra mai Fiu.

                      Lovely stuff.

Richard Lewis: so good in Handel.

Oh dear, my eyesight is playing up again and I seem to have 'double vision' this morning ... or maybe it was that lovely Rioja last night?

I trust I've supplied the virtual black coffee to restore your visual precision?

I thought it was Purcell who went in for echo choruses - cho choruses - ruses.

                                She denies all responsibility.
