Last night's Here & Now did this for ten R3 presenters, with musical extracts of course. I found I could see a link between the presenters' temperements and the music they chose.
Probably best to exclude soloists, songs, or pure choral pieces, for now.
Should a new thread be started, or have I missed an existing one?
CallMePaul initiated such an idea on the relevant Hear & Now Thread - which I'm sure met with the approval of the seven or eight regulars there.

I shall use his suggestions to start a new Thread in which Forumistas can name their own favourite pieces from the "Western Classical Traditions" written/created in the last ten years.

What did I write last time? I'm guessing.

Let's see what it could be today.

                          1. Beethoven 7 (could also be 3 - do they count separately or are we only allowed one per composer?)
                          2. Mozart 41 (almost certainly wasn't that one before)
                          3. Brahms 1
                          4. Schumann 3
                          5. Sibelius 7
                          6. Mendelssohn Scottish
                          7. Shostakovich 10
                          8. Mahler 3
                          9. Stravinsky Symphony in Three Movements
                          10. Schubert 9

About the selection - I could paraphrase a well known comedian and suggest that these might be roughly the right pieces, but not necessarily in that order.

I assume I did contribute years ago, so now it should be possible to compare today's with the previous set. Though sneaking a look at JLW's I wonder how to get Nielsen 4 in the list - what should I kick out?

See msg 16,- http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...8034#post38034 - and note - blast - that I left Tchaikovsky and Dvorak out this time, but I've tried to sneak Nielsen in both times. I might still want to squeeze Bruckner in - perhaps number 7.
