There are times when umpires step in to stop a contest on the grounds that it is the only way of saving life.
I would like, personally, to claim entire credit for instilling in regular members that criticism, where clearly and succinctly expressed, is allowed. Attacks based on personal feelings, tastes and emotions against an individual, and on generalised grounds of dislike, are not. In my view these are not, in any reasonable sense, 'opinions'.
If only members would treat each other in similar, intellectual fashion...It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.Comment
