Just twigged - Laura Mvula was on 6 Music discussing 'being at the Proms' with MAH - hence the cross promotion with MAH talking about 'being on Radio 3', one presumes.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Whatever the intention or rationalisation, it just sounded to me as though the programmers needed a cheap presenter and someone thought this would seem "adventurous". Truly horrible. Gushing and patronising presentation very irritating also.

Heard the start of the programme from the kitchen - Janacek Sinfonietta. Stepped outside for a moment, came back in - that had stopped, now something Japanese. Am now off to the municipal tip.

I can't find out what was actually on this afternoon. First I heard a bit of Brahms piano music - which was pleasant, but then there was what sounded like New Age "music". I asked myself for a while whether this wasn't just as valid a form of music as any other, and then I noticed some oriental touches. I kept on asking myself, and it kept on being bland and boring. As I drove back into my drive it was still going on, and I was happy enough to turn it off. It certainly did not keep me spell bound in my car waiting to end.

Someone might disagree, but I felt it was musical drivel.

                  Hiya Rue Dubac,

It's cynical plot by the powers that be at BBC Towers to attract young listeners to Radio 3. I find the mix of music intolerable. Wouldn't the progamme be better placed on Radio 6?

The words "and misguided" are missing from somewhere in there, Stanfordian.

It does look as if she's waiting for her next fix.

....or maybe just music not to your taste - I've heard a lot of that and some is on my shelves (and stays there most of the time!).

I'm not exactly sure, though, why it was not enough for these diverse choices of a 6 Music presenter to be presented on her 6 Music show. It COULD seem as if a 6 Music show was being doubled up on Radio 3, when anyone who wanted to hear it could listen on 6 Music. Exactly why is it being offered to Radio 3 listeners? And is it simply to promote it on 6 Music to get 6 Music listeners to tune in to Radio 3?

And could David Bowie not be kept penned into Late Junction?

Janacek and Sances!! If this programme were to be broadcast on 6 Music as well, wouldn’t it offer its listeners an excellent opportunity to widen their musical taste? (Huh…)

This is the puzzle: I imagine they don't want to. I imagine the great compliment that Radio 3 listeners are being paid is that, while the generality of 6 Music listeners don't want to widen their musical tastes any wider than the huge expanse they already have (excluding a regular diet of classical), the generality of Radio 3 listeners already like e.g. David Bowie, Paloma Faith and Kate Bush. In which case, why don't they just listen to 6 Music - they will probably listen to Late Junction anyway.

But whereas, most pop fans can avoid classical music most of the time, it's becoming increasingly difficult for classical fans to avoid pop music anywhere. [POP MUSIC IS THE MOST IMPORTANT MUSIC THERE IS: YOU WILL LIKE IT!!!]

That said, Breakfast and Essential Classics impeccable this morning, but for the single movements and emails, read out, apparently, for information only.
