... starts at 49mins 30secs. (The indefatigable Alun Francis on the baton, I see!)

An unusual "intrusion" of New Music into this afternoon's schedules - a recording from last weekend's New Music Biennial of Sona Jobarteh(b 1982)'s Innovation Through Preservation for an instrumental nonet led by the composer herself.

      Jobarteh has a fascinating biography:

... and I'm hoping her Music is as fearless and independent as she is.

And then, joy of joys, there are works by Dunstaple and Ferneyhough featured in The Listening Service which follows immediately thereafter!

That is a tempting disc. I caught the Walthew this afternoon.

By the way Edge, could you remind me of that Mozart chamber piece you were recommending the other day? I’ve been wracking my brains to think of it.

I wasn't sure about the best place to post this but it's the afternoon concert and it's (nearly all) British Music so...

A shock to realise it's been a year since Stephen Cleobury died.

Terrific Elgar 1 this afternoon from the Royal Stockholm Phil under Sakari Oramo (always superlative in Elgar)

                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Passed on the bike ride today due to permanent rain... Elgar 1 a bracing alternative

Funnily enough, I was thinking what a great concert it would have been to have had the Trpčeski Rach 3 & the Oramo Elgar 1 on one live concert programme

Now there’s someone who could follow Rattle at the LSO, after all he did a great job following him in Birmingham!
