Just heard an exquisite Rückert Lieder from Janet BAker, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas. Checked Amazon - it's with the 3rd symphony at £36! But available used for £4.50 - very tempting.

There's nothing like the Baker/Barbirolli performance of "Ich bin der Welt..."... time suspended, near the end ("ruuuuuuh".... )..."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Perhaps Irmgard Seefried's Deutsch will please Roehre rather more ...
Every time I see her lip quiver just before the end, I fill up! :poot:
