it ties in with RW's rhetoric that orchestral programming needs to be in advance of the tastes of the audience - expect more of the same over the remaining period of RW's tenure (after which I suspect there won't be much of R3 left)

We had old Rafferty on his kazoo on intune last week. I just shook my head and pressed the off switch. How much lower can R3 sink, its sounds like the sought of gimmick you get on local commercial stations.

Hang in there - it'll be all over by Tuesday (bar the repeats).
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

For some reason, your post inspired me to come up with a few ideas toward new lyrics for a 1920s kazoo classic...need a little help with the verses, though. If Red Nose Day programming gets to be too much for you, switch off and have a sing-a-long:

WHEN RAFFERTY PLAYS HIS OLD KAZOO (Sung to the tune of "When Erastus Plays his Old Kazoo")
Alex Jackson & His Plantation Orchestra - When Erastus Plays His Old Kazoo, Champion 1927NOTE: Alex Jackson's Plantation Orchestra was a black "territory ba...

          Cranky chaps are horrified
You can hear 'em screaming far and wide
When Rafferty plays his old kazoo

Though he plays in just one key
He can ruin the whole **** symphony
Now that Rafferty plays his old kazoo

Oh brother! What do you know, look at him go
And you can tell...his heart ain't in it
Regulars growl, hear how they howl
Oops! Ratings dropped...now watch 'em spin it

Roger said to dumb it down
so now poor old Sean must act the clown
When Rafferty plays his old kazoo

There's some things he'll ask of you
Wants your Twitters, texts, and Facebook too
When Rafferty plays his old kazoo

          Every operatic star
Throws away his whole damn repertoire
When Rafferty plays his old kazoo...

(oh dear...shouldn't drink in the afternoon, really...sorry!)

Oh! Don't be silly, Eudaimonia. That's not how you spell kazoo.

"The Gnu" (sometimes referred to as "I'm a Gnu" or "The Gnu Song") was sung by a British Chap and a gnu in episode 519 of The Muppet Show.

Oops! I misread what the R3 homepage said. I should have said, Hang in there until next Saturday. The final 12-hour unbroken burst of RND is on Friday. Sorry for my mistake

                They could sing "I'm a kazoo, a k-nother kazoo".
