    Fading music on Breakfast

Well, I was just listening to a pleasant harp piece (I don't know what it was...a request, maybe) and it was 'faded' halfway through. Is this to be the norm from now on when music gets in the way of Breakfast's agenda?

does Breakfast still have music? - I'd expected by now that it would be mostly tweets and adverts

Nothing would surprise me anymore. I hadn't listened for a long time until the other day - I was horrified to hear that they are still doing that awful practice of announcing the music that is still to come, over short extracts of the most familiar moments of the pieces...it is ghastly!

I expect they've learnt the practice from Radio 1 DJs.

Yes, I really dislike that most of all. It is an insult to the composer, the players and the listeners.

BUT they can't see how it puts people off. They never seem to learn a thing.

As in the case of squashing credits at the end of films so they can burst in with future programme announcements, saly. Letter after letter has been sent to RT on this, but will they listen?

Well of course they HAD to fade it out, so that SM-P could recap what the phone-in listener had already said and then read out a few texted and emailed inanities about hangovers. [I should say that I used listen again to discover this, as I no longer listen to Breakfast when SM-P is presenting]

Rather as with the story about the man in the psychiatric hospital who, when asked why he banged his head against the wall, explained that it was so nice when one left off?

Just when you think Breakfast can't sink any lower, it nose dives to even more lamentable depths.

It sounds as if they have learned a lot of new things since I last listened.

Wouldn't it be great if the studio engineer faded the presenter out and left the music running?
