Are they still doing Proms ticket competitions?
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

        yes.
In particular Prom 66, since you ask.
I have cash available for the right deal.

I don't think that is this week's competion (but I cannot remember exactly which prom it relates to). You may be in luck next week though - they're normally about two weeks in advance of the event.

The presenter would be really good in a pantomime - egging on the audience. But for In Tune, it just isn't right.

And Tony, I don't doubt that SR is a decent and considerate person. But the issue here is the presentation style, and it's that, not the man, that is the main problem (though he does sound smug to me….)
As soon as SR comes on, I turn off. I just cannot bear the sound of his voice.

Good grief! What was that all about in yesterday's In Tune? A long, utterly tedious monologue from a a crooner (Stacey Kent) under the guise of a "jazz singer" (which seemed to be a far from accurate description) with a great deal of irrelevant twaddle.

Badly done, Radio 3. Try harder.

Thanks for the alert Alps. Had a good listen - good singer and group - maybe the domestic chat went on a bit too long but I enjoyed the music.

Did the horn playing folks hear the rather wonderful Roger Montgomery talking about pumpenhorns etc ?

                      Worth a listen IMV

I, for one, have been greatly enjoying In Tune over the last four days during SM-P's stewardship. Interesting guests, sensitive and intelligent interviews and some great live perfomances.

In Tune occupies a lot of your broadcast time and I am a great fan of the concept. However it is a tad unfair on the flamboyantly articulate Shaun Rafferty that he should be expected to entertain us for quite so many hours. Shaun's highly polished verbal brilliance would have even more impact if he were to have more time to prepare for his interviews allowing, perhaps, some of your equally erudite and even more intellectual staff to titillate us between 4 and 7. It might also offer some of the wonderful musicians coaxed into your studios a little time to let us know who they are and what they are doing.

Even better, now Skelly's in the driving seat - all week, too!

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
