I’ve always thought of Sean Rafferty as a bit of a sweetie wife and yes he can make me cringe. However, we spoke to him after a play at the Edinburgh Festival and he was such a lovely guy!

I think many of these presenters are acting (many of them are , or were , actors) on air, and that may explain why Sean sounds different in 'real life'.It was the same with Ann Robinson , who made a successful career as a merciless, sardonic schoolmarm: it was an act. She wasn't (isn't) like that in reality. People often don't grasp this. They saw Bill Hartnell in interview and expected him to talk like Doctor Who.

Some lovely live music right now, really those middle eastern wars should be replaced with nice parks and live musical recitals. If ever western civilisation needed a champion i am sure "in tune" could help, perhaps the world service should re broadcast "in tune" ?Annoyingly listening to and commenting on radio 3...
