I don't understand the etiquette of the baths, though someone (MrGG?) did once explain it to me. I like to know what to expect so that I know whether I want to go or not...

When I was last in Budapest, the Danube was river-coloured. I must look out my photies to remind myself. I also saw Serse at the opera house. Amazingly trouble-free to book my seat and print off my ticket before I left home . I think it was the equivalent of about £5.

I wonder if Bryn has listened to the Blue Danube on the iPlayer yet?

the only thing I have discovered is that you need to work out which door to go in
and whether it's a mixed or single sex session etc

You definitely should go, it's a wonderful experience and a perfect antidote to endless pork and wine ...........

The opera house is great as is the new concert hall down the river but the political situation is making it extremely difficult for musicians and artists at the moment according to my friends at the Liszt Academy (which also has a good hall but with an odd echo in one place ..............)

Café Gerbeaud is well worth the trip ........

Problem with the evening concerts for me is that they are at the one time of day when I might have the opportunity to listen properly,not in a car, to music of my choice. often the music of my choice is music new to me, which may well not be the case in the concert. In any event, it is "Prime Time" for me , so the concert has to beat other priority listening.
Doesn't change the fact that there is some pretty dismal programming and dull music choices in the mornings....and the evening concert programmes can be repetitive, in content if not performance. (EG IIRC a complete Beethoven cysle not long after the Proms cycle this year?)

The music is not really the problem so much as the furniture arouind it - 2 out of the 3 hours of EC is usually OK! The evening stuff can be sorted via iplayer!

With me, unfortunately, it's not so simple. I fire up the laptop, connect up my little DAC, and listen to glorious sound! For ten minutes. (Or perhaps only five.) Then the sound cuts out ... and does not come back. I refresh the window, and I get my glorious sound back ... but for perhaps only a minute. I refresh once or twice more, but pretty soon give up, and turn on the FM tuner instead.

REALLY hate to keep mentioning this but I hope you've tried the itunes link for the R3 stream....
