Ah, I see you have belatedly noted the article headline, "Friends of Radio 3 brand channel's new style Radio 2.5".

I never listen to Cfm, so I wouldn't know, mercs. BUT

          1) I don't like the type of presentation found between the end of Through the Night and the start of Composer of the Week.
          2) I object in the strongest possible terms to my dislike - and that of others who contribute to the Forum - being used by the Daily Mail; that rag couldn't give a tass about R3 or Cfm and are using both simply to attack the BBC.

No quite always. mercia was alert enough to quickly remove from a recent message the erroneous assertion that The Mail article did not claim that FoR3 called Radio 3 Radio 2.5.

if that's obtuse meaning indirect, I would think I'm being the opposite of obtuse

do we agree with the article that Radio 3 is taking ideas from Classic FM in order to steal their listeners ?

I understand that on this occasion, we, the users of this forum, had better support Sarah Spilsbury, as we do not wish our host, FoR3, to get into a very awkward situation with BBC which could lead to a situation that could affect this forum.

What 'we' know is that the Daily Mail doesn't care a jot about Radio 3 - and we do. Unlike the Daily Mail, we (FoR3) support the BBC too (without whom) ...

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I may have missed something but I've not really seen any significant changes for the better on R3 as a result of this board's existence and I think that R3 may have just possibly borrowed, without permission, ideas from CFM. I'm with mercia on this one but maybe someone in the FoR3 cabinet can enlighten me as to the softly softly approach.

I'm not really interested in what the Daily Mail thinks about anything, I'm more interested in what Mr Stephen Miron did or did not say at the Radio Conference in Salford. If he said that Radio 3 is stealing ideas from Classic FM in order to steal listeners, I find that interesting because it seems to accord with what forum members have said about Radio 3.

Just gave you a green arrow FF - I had no idea that you were being misquoted, I just thought the story would be of interest to messageboarders. Did it only appear in the Daily Mail, I wonder?

If Classic FM are bashing Radio 3 in the Daily Mail I'm going to start operating on the assumption that the BBC is doing something right.

Miron labels Radio 1 'Radio One Direction' and says Radio 3's overhauled schedule mimics that of Classic FM. By John Plunkett
